It is a pity today that many of us have misinterpreted the blessings of God, and limiting them to material wealth. As a matter of fact assume everyone in the circle as a true recipient of God's blessings.
While I'm not trying to discourage material possessions as part of
them, it must be noted that it is obtainable from other source apart
from God.
The bible says, the blessings of God makes rich and add no sorrow. It is observable from here why our nobles and men in power necessarily survive on security guide, both in private and public; why they seek for power, notwithstanding the source from where they get it; and even with that suffer sleepless night and die prematurely due to diverse health challenges: the reason is not far fetched, only the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow.
However, while I may not have a correct definition of blessing, it is clear to note, that, God's blessing is every good things you obtain in righteousness and at the end brings peace of mind.
I must also establish here that the first blessing you can graciously obtain from God is the salvation of your soul, upon that can every other blessings find their root. Any earthly possession at the expense of salvation is regarded as vanity, and the possessor as a miserable.
Having seen what blessing entails, it must also be observed, that, whether spiritual or material, there are certain price or conditions that accompany them in order to be authenticated and last longer in the hands of its recipients.
God shed light on the reason he took the children of Israel through the wilderness in those forty years, and that principle is validated today for anyone willing to be blessed by God-they must have wilderness experience.
All the hereos of faith, both in the bible history and in our contemporary time-Jesus included, were not exempted from it before they were approved with the grace or gift they blessed their generation with.
The sole reason the Lord adopted that principle is to ensure that what we receive from him doesn't responsible for our destruction, as the scripture declared that gift killeth.
Deuteronomy.8:1-9 highlighted salient points why the Lord allow the children of Israel to go through the wilderness, even though it was not palatable. The same reason is responsible for our unfriendly experiences of life (as many as are faithfully walking with God). It is therefore wrong for anyone to conclude that God is wicked or unfair because of their current unfortunate experiences.
God is good and gracious, kind-hearted and merciful to everyone that can learn to follow him in complete obedience. All he's doing is to help us to maturity and gain the required capacity to maintain and sustain his resources for both personal and his kingdom profit.
A charm that costs no price will lose its value, is our local adage. And a child who claim to be wise when he lacks experience will tell us his teacher. Good afternoon.
