I
don't know what really run through the minds of our political leaders
when they hear that Nigerians are stranded, perhaps am taking things too
far and personal, the kind of shame, guilt, and embarrassment I feel on
the inside is quite inexplicable. Nigerians can't just do without been
molested, reproached and tongue lashed. For crying out loud, we are
stranded within, we are stranded without, yet our government will pose
themselves honorably in their extravagant attires and flamboyant
lifestyles, hurried at every international meetings and occasions as
though they are that too special...shameless individuals.
In
Libya they are stranded; in Russia again, Nigerians are stranded waiting
for who to bring them back home. It is very obvious to the whole world
that our country is really suffering from abject poverty, but too
mysterious to understand how we keep mentioning billions and trillions
of project, both in naira and dollars without its effect in the nation
and even in the life of the citizens. Only few individuals who are
privileged to grab any slightest forms of political power in the nation
are enjoying it.
I deliberately cease the visa of one of my
brothers in the Lord who intended to go to Russia for the world cup with
a view to find his way out any how in search of greener pasture. At
least, if Nigeria government doesn't care about the reputation of the
nation and image we project outside, we as children of the kingdom of
God living in Nigeria we care, and so is our heavenly Father.
I'm
not preaching here today, I'm just trying to express my feelings
concerning the deteriorating state of this nation in case anyone out
there felt the similar way lately. I'm not sure if there is any nation
you go today around the world and nationalize yourself whereby your
nation of origin will not reflect? So if we can't do without identifying
with this nation, why then are we rendering the effort of our founding
fathers useless and handling what was earned with their life in the line
in such a bastard manner.
An elderly white woman from Texas was
chatting with me on Facebook few days ago, trying to know how am faring
with the current security threat in the nation, she said something that
nearly draw tears out of my eyes: "...it is terrible to have people in
government who ignore violence because it is political. We are dealing
with that too some degree, but not nearly as bad as your country."
Where do any responsible minister of God start ministering to such
individual? How do one convince such a one that you carry the light of
the gospel when your nation has not yet been liberated from the clutch
of darkness and evil activities? If you do, then let it start from your
home land.! After all, charity begins at home is the slogan.
If
anyone claim to truly fight for the interest of this nation and fighting
corruption without a string attached, I challenge such to concede power
peacefully at this juncture and let the ground clear for the world to
note his true patriotic intention, then I will be more than convinced.
Nations have not stop their praise and honor of leaders who took such a
giant stride and left a history in their time. Nelson Mandela is an
example from the continent of Africa, and his nation is still enjoying
the benefit till today. If South Africa is not regarded for any
reasonable reasons, the honor Mandela arrayed them by his act of
selfless leadership style can't be undermine and escape the observation
of kingdoms and nations all around the globe.
Stop deceiving us with
your political gimmicks and give us back the Nigeria that our Fathers
bought with their blood. A good name is better to be chosen than gold
and silver. And that is the battle line for fighting corruption and
salvaging the battered economic and political state of this nation to
effect the change mantra, as far as I am concerned.
Good day!
