FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS (PART ONE)

2 Timothy 3:15-17; John 17:17
“Let us sincerely pray for grace to lean and trust on God who cannot lie (Numbers 23:19).”
INTRODUCTION
The significance of a solid foundation that is totally based on truth in the crucial year cannot be over emphasized. Hence, the need to examine foundational truths as to establish a strong faith in God for our spiritual, physical and financial progress on earth and equally empower us for eternal heavenly home; knowing fully well that “it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.” (Romans 9:16) May the Holy Spirit teach us more than ever before as we release ourselves afresh unto Him. (Amen)
LESSON OUTLINE
     A. The Word is the Truth
   B. Beware of False Doctrine

 A.    The Word is the Truth
If the foundation of a man’s life is to be rebuilt properly, it will be wise to submit such life unto the one who originally formed it at the beginning by His word. Hebrews 11:3 The word of God, the truth, is divinely inspired and therefore profitable for doctrine, salvation, healing, miracles, signs, instruction in righteousness, deliverance, peace, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding (John 17:17). We are called for consecration, that is to separate ourselves from profane things of this world unto total wholly and dedication unto God and His service. The primary objectives of separation is not just to make a thing or a person holy only but that the person or thing that has been cleansed from sin or defilement is fully sanctified and separated unto God and His service. (Psalm 119:9; Jeremiah 5:14; 23:29; Hebrews 4:12; Matthew 8:5-10).
B.    Beware of False Doctrines
Almost speedily as faithful preachers are preaching the sound doctrine the Word, also the Devil is busy, making efforts to counter the efforts of men of God through his diverse and varying false doctrines; such as the followings:
·         That Jesus is not Son of God. 1 John 4:1-3
·         That there is no resurrection of the dead. Matthew 22:23-33; 1 Corinthian 15:13-19, 35-42
·         That the days of miracles are over. Isaiah 9:6; Exodus 3:14; Hebrews 13:8; Philemon 2:9-11; John 15:16
·         The worship of things created and not creator. Exodus 20:4-5
·         That the days of tithing are over. John 5:17-19; Malachi 3:10-13
·         That holiness is impossible. Philippians 4:13; Luke 1:37
·         That prosperity is the same with material wealth only. 3 John 2; Luke 12:16-3
Conclusion
Time spent in ensuring that the original truth is known and abide with is not a wasted one, most especially as we know that Satan is more organized in these last days in the spread of his false doctrines. It is the duty of Christians to expose the falsehood of Satan as to protect any of the Saints from becoming its prey and also deliver those that have become its prey from its captivity.
