I welcome you into another episode of our daily exhortation, and I encourage you to be in expectant to get something noticeable from God that will announce the glory of God in your life and give you a new identity.
Before then, I enjoin you to follow with me to the book of Joshua.4:14 where the Lord has prepared to bless you today. "On that day the Lord magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses all the days of his life."
God has designed man in such a way that, we don't easily get convinced, persuaded, or compelled into believing something for an immediate action based on mere words or something invincible: we want to see a prove; a sign, or a result.
However, following my own observation, I discovered that virtually everyone that becomes a star or object of attention today, started from ordinary level or initial stage before they later rose to prominence or extraordinary figures in the society through a conscious consistent and uninterrupted focus on what they believe to be their calling or divine mandate. It is only in rare cases you see somebody coming with a fresh idea, and immediately see people to embrace or accept it without necessarily raising some questions.
It is always a life-tending adventure to convince man, especially, to believe without waiting for a prove. No wonder the Bible says, without signs and wonder people will not believe.
Nearly all the Bible figures that left an indelible mark upon the surface of time encountered this similar challenges on their way to fulfilling their God-given mandates.
Joseph was asked by his eleven brothers, including his beloved father, if he would indeed be their head with his presumptuous dream so to speak.
Moses was asked by his immediate clan of who appointed him as judge and priest over them, and for that same reason fled away from their face until after forty years when he had figured out a proof to clearly and concisely answer their question, not because God has not anointed and appointed him to be so, but because he has not gathered sufficient divine ennoblement to produce a sign or prove.
The sons of the prophet questioned Elisha of his over-zealousness and excessive intimacy with Elijah, but could not answer them in vivid clarity because, he had no yet lay hold on the mantle of Elijah to bring down a prove.
The twelve disciples asked Jesus based on the inconceivable harassment they experience from people as a result of their inability to perform any miracle, saying, why could we not cast the demon out? (Matthew.17:14-19).
However, the experience of Joshua at the beginning of his leadership over Israel was not different from anyone else, both past and present who impacted lives and imparted in men their divine endowment.
At a time, the children of Israel told him to his face, not minding the encomium and approval from Moses, saying: all that he commanded them they will do; and as they obey Moses in all things they are going to obey him, but on one condition, except the Lord was with him as he was with Moses. This invariably means, except he could prove his calling and election through visible and feasible miracles like Moses; except his timely prophecies or predictions are confirmed with result following like Moses.
Nevertheless, being that our God is not a magician but a miracle worker, heard what the people were challenging Joshua with and waiting to see what would be his response.
Many men in our time have responded to people's reproach over them in a negative way and have ventured into a strange believing, and strange gods with a view to answer people's challenging questions over their God-given mandate. Many have even opted out and face a strange adventure because of fear of what people are saying. They signed out on their vision and assignment, and to make it worse, did not resume it until they yielded up the ghost. As a matter of reality, now facing eternal doom and unfulfilled.
Joshua continued in his faithfulness to God and his duty post until God tried him out and approved his office with an unusual miracle.
It dawn on my heart that Joshua learned a great lesson from his predecessor-Moses, and avoid the spate of living out an unfulfilled life. He withstood the question, though paraphrased, that set his boss to flight before grace later restored him back to duty after forty years, and God proved to the people his true election. What cost Moses 40years to answer was answered in a short-while because of his faithfulness to God.
You are not accountable to man as far as your God-ordained mandate is concern to allow any of their overwhelming harassment to dictate your actions; rather you are accountable to God....to be continued next time. I wish you a prosperous day in Jesus name. Good Afternoon.
